Dipika Joshi
"The doctors of the future will give no drugs, but will interest patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease." Thomas Edison
Dipika Joshi is a pharmacist with over 30 years of experience in hospital and community pharmacy, and has been a qualified clinical nutritionist since 1997.
Personal Journey… In 1993, after the birth of her third child, Dipika developed an excessive bleeding disorder. It caused her such distress that she was unable to cope with looking after her three young children. Hormone therapy was suggested as the best treatment option, but it only suppressed the problem and left her with migraines. Fortunately, at that time, she became aware of the Institute of Optimum Nutrition (ION), and soon learned the power of good nutrition. This enabled her to beat the excessive bleeding by addressing its underlying causes. Armed with new knowledge and confident in its potential to help people, she continued her studies, qualifying as a nutrition consultant in 1997 and then set up her own practice.
Functional Medicine… A few years later in 2002, Dipika encountered the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM), and took their intensive course in nutritional training, which informed her work with patients. A 2004 cancer scare caused some anxiety, but Dipika redoubled her efforts and improved her health through detoxification and targeted nutrition. High blood pressure problems in 2008 might have led some to use traditional drugs, but Dipika opted to bring hers under control with functional medicine.
Continuing her education… Dipika regularly attends conferences, seminars and courses of all varieties, around the world, in order to stay at the cutting edge of functional medicine and optimum nutrition. In 2011, she undertook intensive training on how to use functional medicine in clinical practice, while 2013 saw her complete IFM’s Advanced Module for Cardiovascular Health.
